There are so many things that go into the running of a real estate business.

I'm not just talking about the basics, like…

  • Finding deals
  • Due diligence
  • Analyzing numbers
  • Negotiation
  • Closing
  • Improving properties
  • Getting listings sold

It's true, these are all GIANT components of running a successful real estate businesses – but the reality is, these things don't account for even half of everything we have to do.

When you think about all that goes into a real estate investor's typical week – it's crazy to think of how many “little things”, oddball projects and one-time jobs come up... the kinds of things that most of us aren't experts at and/or don't have time to do.

The good news is – there are some great online marketplaces FULL of freelance experts who can help us knock out some of these tasks. If you've got a job that doesn't come up often (or you simply don't know how to do it), but it still needs to get done, you ought to get familiar with a website called Fiverr.

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is a massive online marketplace that helps entrepreneurs of all kinds find freelance services that fit within their budget and timeline for whatever projects they're working on.

When the site first started in 2010, the original concept was to offer jobs and services for just $5.

These days, most of the services on Fiverr may start in that range, but the final price usually ends up exceeding this amount (that's what I've found anyway). Even so, the cost you'll end up paying is still FAR cheaper than most other online services you'll find today, and for that reason – Fiverr is a nice resource to be aware of… especially if your goal is to find good help for the least amount possible.

What Can You Use Fiverr For?

In my business, I've hired freelancers on Fiverr for all kinds of things. Everything from voiceover services to web design to list sorting help – this website offers assistance for just about anything you can imagine.

If you take a few minutes and think about where the biggest service gaps are in your business (maybe some areas you've been ignoring for a long time?) – it probably won't be hard to come up with half a dozen areas where you need help fast.

If you're still not sure how a service like this could play into your business, I'll show you 8 quick examples of how this kind of online marketplace may be able to help you.

Note: Some of the items below are affiliate links and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links. I recommend Fiverr for some projects because it has been helpful and useful to me, not because of the small commissions I will make if you decide to buy something. Please do not spend your money unless you feel it will help you achieve your goals.

List Sorting Services

When you're doing a direct mail campaign to a delinquent tax list, one of the biggest hassles you'll have to deal with is making sense of the data and getting the list sorted out.

Some counties will provide lists that are fairly easy to work with, but others will provide lists that are a TOTAL mess (if they'll provide it at all).

If you've got a list that came in the wrong format or will clearly require HOURS of mind-numbing, tedious work to get sorted out, I would strongly recommend spending a few bucks to have an excel whiz do all this heavy lifting for you (and when you find a freelancer who does great work, you can keep going back to them again and again in the future).

FiverrList Sorting Services

Keep in mind, in order to get the job done properly, it's important that YOU are able to explain how you want your list to be organized, and you also need to make sure all the essential data is actually included somewhere in your list.

This can be a great way to leverage the services of someone who can save you hours of time and frustration. Depending on the size and complexity of the list (and the expertise of the person you hire), I usually plan on paying somewhere in the vicinity of $50 – $100 for this kind of job.

Voiceover Services

Probably the most common use for a voiceover service in a real estate investing business would be for the creation of a professional-sounding voicemail message (something I rely on heavily in my business). You could also hire this kind of help to be the voice of a whiteboard explainer video, or even for the narration of a property listing video.

Now, if you're confident in the sound of your own voice and your ability to deliver a clean, clear message – then you can probably get by without this kind of help – but if you have any doubts or a lack of confidence in your own voice (or if you just want your callers/viewers/listeners to hear a voice other than your own), Fiverr's Voiceover Services can be a great solution for getting the job done.

Every time I've hired these kinds of jobs on Fiverr (even when the jobs were fairly extensive), the prices I paid were anywhere from $25 – $50. Not a bad deal!

Logo Design

A company logo is something that when done well, can convey a lot of value and credibility to the new prospects and leads that come across your company website or social media platforms. Likewise, when a logo is done poorly, it can also hurt your credibility and scare off prospects before they even talk to you.

There are all kinds of places to get a high-quality logo designed for your company, and while many of these sources will deliver a great end product, the price isn't necessarily “cheap”.

FiverrLogo Design

If you're looking for a logo that won't set you back more than $100, Fiverr is a great place to shop around to see what kind of help is available.

Website Design & Customizations

A great website can work wonders for your business – but if you're using an online platform like WordPress (or some other complex online platform), making changes and customizations to your website (or even creating it in the first place) could be a MAJOR job that will have the average person feeling completely overwhelmed.

Fiverr has a TON of professionals who can do just about anything in the production, development and design of your website.

FiverrWeb Design & Customization

Whether your website is running on WordPress or some other platform, chances are, you'll be able to find plenty of help making the tweaks and customizations you need on your site.

The final price for this kind of work can be all over the board (depending on a number of factors), but most of the website projects I've hired for have been in the range of $50 – $200.

SEO Services

It's one thing to build your own website, but it's another thing entirely for that website to actually get noticed by your target audience.

If you've ever felt like your website is going completely unnoticed – lost in an endless ocean of other websites on the internet, it might be time to hire out some search engine optimization services.

FiverrSEO Services

The first time I hired some SEO help back in 2011, it was one of the most pivotal changes in my online presence. I was able to generate TONS of free online leads to my buying website, and it never would have happened if I hadn't gotten the right kind of help to make it happen. If you could use some more organic traffic, finding a talented SEO specialist may be the way to go!

I will say, SEO has changed a lot in recent years. What worked 5 years ago won't necessarily work the same today, but it can still make a notable difference – especially when you're starting from nothing.

SEO work can be a one-time job (if you just need a quick site audit with some basic changes to let the search engines know you're there), but if you want to see significant results, it usually requires ongoing work for several months. For most of the SEO experts I've worked with, the cost has been around $100 – $200 per month, and the jobs extended for anywhere from 1 – 6 months.

Local Listings & Ad Posting

Craigslist has long been the #1 most effective medium I've used for selling my properties (and the fact that it's FREE is important to note as well).

The only downside to Craigslist is that it requires ongoing attention in order to continually renew your ads and repost them in order to maintain the highest exposure for your listings.

One way to offload this mind-numbing work is to find someone on Fiverr who can do it for you! There are all kinds of freelancers who will gladly do this kind of work for a pretty reasonable price (for far less than your time is worth anyway).

If you need another set of hands to stay on top of this task, this kind of gig could definitely be worth hiring out!

Video Production

If you've ventured into the realm of real estate video advertising – Fiverr could have a lot to offer you as well.

The creation of any video can require all kinds of little side-jobs along the way. Everything from editing, background music, close captions, video intros and a lot more.

Luckily, Fiverr has solutions for pretty much everything issue you'll encounter in the video production process – so if you haven't started looking for help with your videos on this website yet, now is a great time to start!

Writing & Proofreading

Word can be extremely powerful. The language we use to communicate to our audience can create lifelong raving fans, in the same way they can bore, distract and drive people away from your business.

Whether you need to write a property description, emails to your buyers list, blog content for your website or anything else related to your business – there is help available on Fiverr.

FiverrWriting & Proofreading

Even the best writers need a lot of help in refining their written words – so why should YOU pretend you're any different? If this is an area you need help in, stop struggling and start searching for some good help in this department.

The Great Thing About Fiverr

The great thing about websites like Fiverr is – you're NOT making a long-term commitment to an employee – you're hiring a freelancer.

You'll likely find that some of the people you hire will do great work, and some of them will be duds.

The beauty of the system is – when you come across the duds, just don't hire them again. Go back to the Fiverr marketplace and find someone else until you get the results you're looking for. Once you've found a few gems, you can continue hiring them again and again for your future projects!

Thank you for the great article. I was happy to see that you included proofreading and editing. This is not just good for property descriptions and articles. One of my biggest pet-peeves with real estate books is the really bad writing. No one wants to pay for a book on anything that reads like it was written by a teenager with a poor command of the English language. Publishing houses use editors for a good reason. No one expects professional authors to do their own editing and it is even more important for amateurs. Spend a few bucks and get a professional. You are asking readers to pay for that book, don’t ask us to pay for something that doesn’t meet minimum standards. Those go right on my “never buy another book from this author” list. I just paid $7.99 for a real estate book that is one of the poorest examples of writing I have ever read. Constant use of completely incorrect words. They actually used “way in” when they meant “weighted in.” A lot of readers read the reviews and no matter how knowledgeable you are, when they see reviews slamming the bad writing they won’t buy your book.

Hi Barbara – thanks for reading the article! I’m glad the proofreading and editing idea resonated with you

I know what you mean, I’ve also read plenty horribly written books, blog posts, courses and the like. It’s kind of disappointing to see how some people are okay with putting out such lackluster work. I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who is turned off by bad writing. 🙂 Now we just need to get these authors to get on the band wagon.

  • Nida says:

Wow! That’s a great tip. I was amazed by the way you have written the article. And Fiverr is a great option for real estate professionals to promote their real estate business.

  • Alana Gaddis says:

You write indepth articles. Really informative. Thanks. Yea, Fiverr is a great tool for marketers. I am both a buyer and seller on Fiverr myself. You might have to sift through the sands, but you’ll find quality services on Fiverr, without straining your budget.

    • Seth Williams says:

Thanks for the comment Alana! I agree – I’ve found a lot of great help on Fiverr, but it hasn’t always happened on the first person I’ve picked. It can certainly be worth the trouble to find a great freelancer though. 🙂

Thanks for the valuable information!!! It was very helpful.

  • Cristina Ortega says:

Thanks for this great article! It was really thorough and fully encompassed all of what fiverr can help with! I have used fiverr in the past and have had mixed experiences with their work. I think that they are great for things like getting a new logo and different sort of data entry tasks.. Many other things on your list I have never tried them for (like voice overs) but I am sure that would be a good use of them for.
One part I would have to HIGHLY disagree with, though, is using fiverr for your SEO. SEO is a very touchy kind of project that involves a high level of skill, and fiverr could very easily mess you up here. You don’t always get the best quality with fiver – hence, you get what you pay for. So I would highly caution people for using fiverr for something like that. Just my thoughts! Great article, thanks for sharing!

    • Seth Williams says:

Hey Cristina, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here! I agree – some people on Fiverr aren’t nearly as skilled as others. I appreciate your point about SEO work too. I’m curious, have you hired SEO work on Fiverr and had a bad experience with it?

    • Lubos says:

First of all, super great article! Fiverr is a great resource and we have used it in our business with great success. However, I do agree with Christina, and definitely would be *very careful* with SEO. If a Fiverr SEO promoter used ‘Blackhat’ techniques, Google could blacklist the website causing it to loose ranking, or worse, totally disappear from the search results. This would then take months of work to try to repair and undo the damage. One way to mitigate and respond to these kinds of issues would be to create a Google Webmasters account and watch the for any problems very carefully.
